Financial literacy is understanding and effectively applying various financial skills, including budgeting, personal finance management, and saving. As a part of experiential learning in financial literacy, students of grade 9 visited a commercial bank (HDFC) on September 21, 2023. They gained first-hand information on various aspects of the bank's financial services. They were enlightened about insurance, E-banking functions, agricultural and industrial sectors, deposits, loans, and advances. The visit was a valuable learning opportunity, as the students were able to broaden their knowledge base on the workings of the financial sector.
Grade 9 students were taken on a 'Plant tour' to Aavin Dairy Plant (a milk processing unit), Pachapalayam, Coimbatore. The students observed milk and dairy processing. They witnessed the milk reception dock, where rapid quality control procedures were carried out. They also had a chance to see how the roll of sheets was made into different-sized packets and finally filled with milk with the help of a machine. This industrial visit provided a great learning experience by familiarizing students with the procedural operations that take place in the dairy unit.
