1971
Thiru R. S. Chinnasamy and Mrs. Jaya Chinnasamy founded the Bharath Educational Society (Registered) with a vision to impart quality education to all.
- Founding of Bharathi, a co-educational English medium school open to all aiming to provide all-round education by instilling sound character and value.
The institution started with a humble beginning on a rented premise on D. B. Road, Coimbatore.
1978
The management acquired land on Thadagam Road and shifted to a permanent place with the objective to have sound infrastructure
and ensure the development of the school. New constructions were added periodically, and now it is blessed
with outstanding facilities and infrastructure.
The Crest
The school has its own crest, and the features on it reminisce the deep-rooted principles of the founding of the school.
The Indian peninsula denotes the realm of Bharathi’s reach – catering to the educational needs of all, being the beacon of quality academic transaction in South India.
The SUN on the left of the peninsula signifies the mission of spreading the light of education.
The OPEN BOOK on the right of the peninsula represents the perpetual quest for knowledge every Bharathian is inculcated.
And the PENTAGON stands for the five senses, i.e. the gateways of knowledge!
The Motto: “Aim And Achieve” is adapted from Bharathiar’s எண்ணிய முடிதல் வேண்டும். It motivates us to have a purpose in life by setting higher goals, aim for them and accomplish them with determination.
1985
The first batch of twenty-five students graduated with cent percent results in the Matriculation Examination.
1987
The School transport system was introduced.
1988
The School received recognition for Higher Secondary with four streams.
1990
Bharath Educational Society started the Bharathi Rehabilitation Centre (BRC) on its premises to cater to children with special needs.
1997 - Silver Jubilee Year
With 1500 students on roll and 60 teachers in the quiver, Bharathi marched with pride into its 25th year of inception.
Eminent personalities from the field of education, administration and service lauded the noteworthy milestone by sending their
wishes and blessings. St. Mother Teresa, Founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, sent her blessings for intellectual
progress in every sphere. His Holiness Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya appreciated the all-round education imparted,
and Mr. Iliyas Azmi, former Member of the Parliament (Lok Sabha), sent his best wishes for the continued success of
the institution. Dr. Rajammal P. Devadas, educationist and a former Chancellor of Avinashilingam Institute for
Home Science and Higher Education for Women, presented the citation for the 25 years of meritorious service through her greetings.
A souvenir carrying the episodes of this glorious journey and dedicated service was released by the then Correspondent Mrs. Jaya Chinnasamy.
Mr. G. K. Moopanar, Indian National Congress leader, Parliamentarian, and Philanthropist inaugurated the open-air stage.
Mr. Pongallur Palaniswamy, former Minister of forests, pollution control, sports and animal husbandry, laid the foundation stone for the Tagore block.
1998
Arutchelvar Dr. Mahalingam N, an Educationalist and notable Philanthropist, inaugurated the Tagore block.
In order to revamp the outlook of the school, a change in the attire from Grey and White to Blue and Crème was introduced.
1999
Dr. (Mrs.) Bhuvana Anand took over as the Principal and made giant strides in all spheres with a progressive outlook.
The school developed leaps and bounds and reached a renowned status during her tenure as Principal.
2002
The School Auditorium was renovated with a green room, and exquisite interior designs, state-of-the-art lighting and sound system.
2003
The House system, a feature that cultivates competitive spirit and loyalty among the students, was rechristened as Truth, Noble,
Peace and Charity- four traits based on the moral values of humanity.
2007
National Cadet Corps NCC Troop no. 274, 6 (TN) MED.COY was started.
2009
Mrs. N. Periyanayaki, P.G. Assistant in Commerce with Bharathi since 1995, was appointed as the Principal in March 2009. She continued to uphold the spirit and values of the visionaries of this institution.
She strongly believes that each student is unique and works tirelessly in bringing out their best potential, whereby the nestlings who come under her wings achieve excellence in all spheres.
The Scouts team named “Dauntless Mastiff” and the Guides team named “Evergreens of Bharathi” - were started.
2016
To reinvent, rejuvenate, and keep pace with the progressive world, the school gave a fillip by changing its crest.
Explanation of the Crest
Eagles inspire us with their powerful vision. Being dauntless and tenacious, they aim and soar high in the sky. The crest draws parallels between Bharathi and the eagle, the symbol of transcendence.
Bharathi, like the eagle, has rejuvenated itself to nurture the educands well and soar higher with changing times.

2022
Bharathi is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations
2024
Bharathi has successfully upgraded to the ISC (Indian School Certificate for grade 12) marking a significant milestone in their academic journey.
The first batch of ICSE (grade 10) students passed with 100% results and 15 centums in various subjects
